Man United sign Odion Ighalo to cover for striker shortage with an option to buy in the summer

Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo makes history as the first Nigerian to play for Manchester United.

Man United are short on striking options due to a back injury suffered by top scorer Marcus Rashford, with the England international expected to be sidelined for at least another month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United boss, said: ”Odion is an experienced player. He will come in and give us an option of a different type of centre-forward for the short spell he’s staying with us. A great lad and very professional, he will make the most of his time here”.

Ighalo, who plays for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League, agreed a move to Old Trafford until the end of the season.
