Talented Nigerian drummer and Afrobeat co-creator, Tony Allen, has died
According to reports, the drummer recently died in Paris where he lived. He was 79 years old at the time of his demise.
His manager, Eric Trosset revealed his death saying that his death was sudden and that there is no indication that it was linked to coronavirus.
Allen was Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti’s drummer and they started working together in the 1960s/70s. He was also a part of the famous Africa 70 band that created the Afrobeat genre.
Fela had said that without Allen there would be no Afrobeat, showing that the drummer was very instrumental to the success of his works.
